The ability to spread a video can massively propel it’s popularity. Furthermore, memes become powerful items of culture as they are “subject to a form of natural selection, which allows them to change over time and even evolve to become more effective replicators”.

The importance of the viral spread of memes has become of insurmountable importance to the current environment of pop culture, and in the same vein, contributed largely to the popularity of Beyoncé’s ‘Single Ladies’ track.
The former made more prominent by the internet age. So, what factors played into this cultural phenomenon? Was it simply a fluke? Or can it be explained on a deeper level? The nature of the song and the video contain two characteristics that can be explained visually and musically.
